Calgary is changing. The city is becoming larger, housing costs are rising and the number of Calgarians struggling to find appropriate shelter is increasing. All Calgarians deserve a place to call home – a place where they can feel safe, warm, and build a better future for themselves and their families.

It is with this purpose in mind that the Calgary Home Builders Foundation was incorporated in 1986. Since then, the foundation has been providing shelter to children with special needs, low-income families and seniors, the brain injured, troubled youth and the physically and mentally challenged.

CHBF Honors Outgoing President – Jim Smith

Calgary Home Builders Foundation honored outgoing President Jim Smith at an industry event January 11th 2012.

Smith, who is Senior Vice-President Production and Cost Control for Shane Homes Ltd, served for two years between October 2009 and November 2011.  Incoming President, Ann Donald presented Smith Jim with a large commerative plaque saying  “Jim has set a very high standard of commitment and leadership. His shoes will be a challenge to fill.  During his term he championed and completed the $350,000 renovation of YWCA’s Mary Dover House, the 12th project for CHBF in its 25 year history.”

Jim has volunteered for more than 10 years with CHBF, the charitable arm of CHBA – Calgary Region, and continues to be very active with the two newest projects announced by CHBF.
